- Responsible Mining Exhibited at the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai, China
July 29, 2010 - The Chamber of Mines, together with the Minerals Development Council, Atlas Consolidated Mining Company/Carmen Copper Corporation, Benguet Corporation, Nickel Asia Corporation, Philex Mining Corporation and TVI Resource Development (Phils.) Inc., recently participated in the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai China.

The Mining Industry was featured in July at the trade zone of the Philippine Pavilion showcasing a photo exhibit of mining operations and a continuous showing of an audio visual presentation highlighting the operations of participating companies.
As a culminating activity for the Mining month, the Philippine Consulate General in Shanghai, in coordination with other relevant Philippine government agencies, organized a one-day Mining Investment Forum on July 29, 2010 held at Hua Ting Hotel & Towers. This was attended by Chinese investors who have expressed interest in the Philippine mining industry headed by Mr. Fan Zhi Guan, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of China Mining Association and a high level Philippine mining delegation headed by Mr. Artemio Disini and Mr. Benjamin Philip Romualdez, Chairman and President of the Chamber of Mines of the Philippines respectively. Attendees from the Philippine Government include Consul General Maria Rowena Mendoza Sanchez, Philippine Consulate General Shanghai; Ms. Maria Roseni Mendoza Alvero, Consul Commercial/Special Trade Representative, Philippine Consulate General Shanghai; Mr. Gerard Panga and Mr. Neil Ballesteros, Secretary General and Deputy Secretary General, Philippine Organizing Committee for the World Expo; and, Mr. Edwin G. Domingo, Director of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau, DENR.
Business matching sessions and meetings were undertaken in the afternoon where Philippine mining companies interacted and networked with prospective Chinese investors. About 30 interested Chinese investors met with the participating mining companies that lasted until 4:00 P.M. -
