MISSION AND VISION
The Chamber of Mines of the Philippines is an association
advancing the interest of mining, quarrying and mineral
processing companies for the efficient exploration, development,
and utilization of minerals in consonance with sound economic,
environmental and social policies. The association consists of
members coming from exploration, mining, mineral processing, and
services industries, including professional associations. The
members are united by a shared commitment to the principles of
economic growth, sustainable development, and as government's
partners in development.
The Chamber's Objectives are as follows:
-
To promote the growth and
development of the mining industry;
-
To promote and encourage
investments in the mining industry;
-
To cooperate with the
government in its programs to advance the growth,
development, and stability of the mining industry;
-
To provide a forum where the
members can exchange ideas and information concerning the
mining industry; and
-
To gather and disseminate
statistics and information to its members and the public
concerning the mining industry.
-
To make interventions when
necessary, in the implementation of rules and regulations
for the development of the industry.
Our visions for the mining
industry are not new but they answer the needs of the times and
the perceptions for the future. We see a mining industry that
is:
-
capable of alleviating
poverty in the countryside;
-
socially and environmentally
responsible;
-
continuously exploring for
mineral wealth;
-
contributing significantly
to the nation’s development.
Guided by the objective of
sustainable development, we foresee that the mining industry
will be able to bounce back to its previous position as one of
the major contributors to the country’s economic growth and
development.
We envision a mining industry of
the future that is efficient, forward looking and committed to
its social and environmental responsibilities. We shall continue
to counter the negative perceptions on the industry in order to
shift the tide towards its development as we aim to help
liberate the country from poverty.
