TAGANITO MINING CORPORATION (“TMC”) was registered with the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on March 04, 1987, and is primarily engaged in the mining and exporting of nickel saprolite and limonite ore, and exploration activities. The Company is 65% owned by NICKEL ASIA CORPORATION. The other stockholders are PACIFIC METALS CO. LTD. (33.5%) And SOJITZ CORPORATION (1.5%). TMC’s registered office address is 4th Floor, NAC Centre (formerly BMMC Building), 143 Dela Rosa corner Adelantado Streets, Legaspi Village, Makati City.
TMC produces nickel saprolite and limonite ore for shipment to customers in Japan and China. Pursuant to an Operating Contract with the government of the Philippines dated February 14, 1989, it operates 3,278.84 has. in Parcel-I of the Surigao Mineral Reservation located in Claver, Surigao del Norte.
On July 28, 2008, the Government approved the conversion of the Operating Contract into a Mineral Production sharing Agreement(MPSA). The MPSA covers a contract area of 4,584.51 hectares in the Municipality of Claver, Surigao del Norte. On June 18, 2009, the government approved the amended MPSA No. 266-2008-XIII-SMR covering 4,862.71 hectares situated in the Barangays of Hayanggabon, Urbiztondo, Taganito and Cagdianao, Municipality of Claver, Province of Surigao del Norte. The agreement has a term of 25 years from date of execution and may be renewed for another 25 years.
Registration with Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA)
On December 21, 2009, Presidential Proclamation No. 1966 was issued to create and establish the 680-hectare area, Taganito Special Economic Zone (TSEZ), situated in Taganito, Municipality of Claver, Province of Surigao del Norte. TMC is a PEZA-registered operator/developer of the economic zone, TSEZ under Certificate of Registration no. EZ 10-01issued on January 7, 2010. On August 4, 2011, TSEZ area was increased by 7.5 hectares.
