Natural Resource Governance Student Lecture Series

In today’s digital world, students play an important role in shaping the economy. The Chamber of Mines recognizes the influence of today’s youth in pushing the envelope and advancing knowledge and information in all fields. To equip them with a better understanding and deeper appreciation of the role of the mining industry in macro and micro economies, the Natural Resource Governance Student Lecture Series was launched.

Invited guest speakers from the Chamber’s roster of members, government and development partners, share their knowledge and expertise to capacitate the youth with the technical aspects of the industry, the policies and legal framework that govern mining operation in the country as well as social development programs that showcase mining companies’ best practices.

Students are then asked to review existing regulatory frameworks, identify gaps, and propose alternatives to these perceived regulatory shortcomings.

With the unique program design of the NRGS lectures, the student comes out with a better appreciation of the complexities of natural resources regulations and governance.
